The Concords flew the skies for many years with probably the lowest incident rate of any. I don’t know of any others with that kind of record. I believe they only crashed one(maybe two) in all the years they flew. They no longer fly so I don’t know which ship is the safest in todays fleets.

I’m not a pilot, but general aviation refers to smaller private or business aircraft. Yes, Cessna’s, Piper, and Beech aircraft are involved in a lot of accidents, but there are also a tremendous amount of them being flown (sometimes by lousy, inexperienced pilots). Since the skills of those who fly them vary much more from those of commercial pilots, I think it would be difficult or impossible to determine a "safest". I do know that Cessnas are most chosen in flight training schools, so it must have good safety features and be "user friendly". As far as commercial aviation, the Boeing 737 has been historically considered the safest as per total mileage accumulated by the many airlines which have utilized this model.

One of the problems with trying to answer a question about Government statistics is that you can get buried in the data files and never find your way out.
Both the FAA and NTSB publish statistics on aircraft safety, but they don’t say which airplane is the safest. You have to research the data and find the answer for your self, if you can. You’re welcome to give it a try…

i think the cessna 182 RG has the record on hours flown/accidents, and the second one is the 182, cessna has manufactured a lot of this and its a very popular model for at least 60 years
