Question by pdooma: Do you consider members of Congress really should just “Preserve the Alter”?
“When lawmakers travel overseas on official business they are given up to $ 250 a day in taxpayer funds to cover meals and costs. Congressional guidelines say they need to return any leftover money to the government.

They typically don’t.

According to interviews with 20 present and former members of Congress, lawmakers use the excess money for shopping or to defray spouses’ travel expenditures. Often they give it away often they pocket it. Numerous lawmakers mentioned they didn’t know the guidelines demand repayment.

Congress has no program for tracking how the money payments, named per diems, are becoming spent. Lawmakers aren’t required to preserve receipts and there are no public records.”

Our company expects every single single cent to be accounted for. They even spend small nazi accounts to pour over the receipts and reject non-qualified items. I believe it is funny that congress is supposed to be the “purse” of our government and they have no thought on how to manage cash.

This would not occur if they had to produce a quarterly report like a huge corporation. There is a critical dilemma when the folks that make the laws can benefit by the laws. That is 1 of 2 significant troubles with the method of our government that our founding fathers neglected to address.
