Is it possible to unseal government records?
I am doing some geneology work and have run across a situation where family records were sealed by the govenment and the last name was changed. The living decendants do not know what the last name was on the sealed records. So I have run into a dead end. Any suggestions?
Go to the courthouse or an attorney and they can tell you what forms you need. There are some circumstance where they can never be unsealed but with a court order from a judge you can get almost any opened. You can even call a Justice of the Peace in your county/town and ask for help but if any record had been sealed and expunged that means they no longer exist. Hope I helped.

No, you can’t change the governments sealed records. Once sealed always sealed . Is this an adoption? Depending on where you live , you may contact the government for whats called non-id, this gives you all information of the adoptee/or birth family without names.
