Question by laughter is the greatest medicine: Do I have a “criminal record” now that I got pulled more than on a skateboard…?
I was longboarding on the street parallel to the school I attend at like 3:00 in the morning with two other pals. All of a sudden a cop gets out of his parked automobile and yells at us. Basically he was yelling at us and drilling us about how stupid it was to “skateboard in the street on a Friday night when there are drunk drivers out” (regardless of the truth that there had been totally no vehicles on the street period).
The thing that worries me, even though is that he took all of our drivers licenses and reported our license #’s back to his workplace or w/e — does this mean we all will show up in background checks from now on for having an infraction?
Yup, my friends and I were verbally yelled at and told that we did not belong at such a university and that our spots could be offered to much less stupid individuals.
Then once again, the guy literally was camping there for an hour and had nothing much better to do on an EMPTY street so I guess I can see why he was becoming such a turd…

If he arrested you or gave you a ticket, you would have a record (ticket record = not so serious, by the way).
If he took you residence and delivered you to your parents, you might have a record, and he would explain the facts to your parents.
If he just told you to go home simply because you had been acting like a dumbass, no. The reason they take your ID and call it in is to really do a background check, and then they might arrest you if you did have a record for, say, selling drugs to teenagers at 3am pretending to be just skating with them.

BTW – I would suggest that the cop would be more aware of the dangers in the area that you are so you might just want to pay attention to his warnings.
