I’m doing some legal work and need to obtain some copies of court records. The nearest courthouse is quite a distance away. My son (who is 16 and just got his license), is willing to do some running for me.

I didn’t know if you had to sign for anything, or if anyone would give him any trouble because of his age.

I tried calling the courthouse, but it closed at 5. So does anybody know if he could obtain the records or not?

When you view a court file, the court does review and sometimes hold your identification. I think he may have some trouble. But I am not aware of any specific law precluding minors from viewing public documents. Call the clerk again tomorrow.

Also, your directions should be very specific as to what document you want copied. The court charges a per page fee: certified copies are expensive and less for uncertified copies. But it’s not Kinko’s. And find out if they accept cash, check or charge.
